Digiarty produce a range of handy Windows software, and the company often features special giveaway offers on some of its products.  But this offer is something special, as they've made it available exclusively for Tech Support Alert readers.

WinX DVD Copy Pro lets you backup your DVDs, including ripping them to an ISO file that you can keep on your hard disk and burn copies at a later date.  It's a handy tool for backing up your movie discs without any loss of quality.  You can even rip a DVD into MPEG2 format, to play easily on any PC without the need for a DVD drive or specialist player software.

The program normally costs around $35, but head to http://www.winxdvd.com/giveaway/techsupportalert.htm and you can get it free. Just click the "Get Register Code" button and you'll see the download link, plus the serial number, displayed.

The download is around 15 MB and is malware-free according to VirusTotal and Web of Trust.

Note that you need to activate your software before January 24th.  Once activated, you can continue to use it for as long as you wish.

Ran the program today (24 January), which displayed a pop-up saying a new version (3.6.0) was available. After installation, the key for version 3.5.0 was rejected, so it seems it only worked with that version. Now uninstalled.

Got this the last time it was free; tried it, seems to work fairly well - but i have DVDFab, which works equally well or better, so i don't actually use this.

How is this app better than the venerable DVD Shrink for making a repair copy of some DVD?

Guess the ability for conversion would be an improvement, but DVD Shrink has been an extremely useful, freely available tool in my kit for years.

Ouch! I've not had all the problems posted below but I haven't yet used the program. What I HAVE had a problem with is using Freemake YouTube MP3 Converter which had worked flawlessly till i installed the above program and I'm wondering if it's a coincidence? I would sincerely appreciate some input here.

You have already posted about the problem in the forum, which is the right place for such queries. Please do not post in multiple places. The comment will be deleted from here.
Please post these details together with your system specs in our forum as we are unable to process individual support requests here in the comments sections. MC - Site Manager. http://www.techsupportalert.com/freeware-forum/

This piece of software came along at just the right time for me.

I had no problems downloading and activating and using the software although when I ran it again later in the day there was a splash screen that says it is 'time limited'. So maybe one day soon it will stop working. I saw the Xmas code reference under the little man icon - esoteric to say the least. Although the executable has xmas in its name.

This company had a Halloween (2013) freebie for their platinum pro ripper which I downloaded, installed and activated but never actually used until last week. The splash screen on that application informed me that they had changed the registration process and I could go to whatever link they provided. That was an invitation to upgrade for money and on the same page were warnings that activation codes leaked on to the internet would not work. I could not see why my activated application should be crippled unless they had made an error in their generosity and were regretting it.

Thank you Rob for this one, a most timely posting. It (winx DVD copy)salvaged a damaged DVD that other DVDsoftware choked on!

Ok finally got it. Comments here that helped. Busy am so no time to mess with that site. Comment pointed to the very faint URL line after clicking on green Get Register Code. In pop up screen with the Code is the proper URL in grey half hidden by the blue field just under Download: When one is hung over that URL isn't so easily noticed. Dif version name than 'regular' d/l at the program's site. Easy nuf to figure out when in mood, but screw it under time pressure. fwiw prob appears on gamegiveaway site later. Appears to be a Dec. 11, 2013 Pro release, hence X-mas part. Be sure no trailing empty space either when cut/paste reg code. As mentioned a clearer write up & prg website method would be appreciated.

Duh, figured it out. Their interface is badly designed and, as so often happens, the Gizmo writing is unclear for folks who are not in the know, already. A bit too terse.

there is a code in the upper Blue portion of the box that appears just after clicking the initial link. This contains the activation/registration code. Copy it. Then download the software. Install it. Run it. When a box appears with a space to paste the link, paste it. Things will change, although there will always be nag screens. This will be your giveaway utility. T-T-T-That's all, folks.

This line is in the article: "Just click the "Get Register Code" button and you'll see the download link, plus the serial number, displayed." Not helpful enough? :D

You have to make sure you use download link right below activation code. The download link is written in small letters. If you don't use the link just below the license code, you will get a message saying that the activation code is invalid.
When its activated you will be told it is a Xmas licensed key, what ever it means..... You can check the key by clicking on the "person" on top right in the program.

that did it, thank you!

i obviously did it the LOGICAL way, download the programme first then get the code and cut and paste it in after it installed......plenty of idiots about making it difficult for us superbrains! ;-)

many thanks!

I downloaded and registered without a problem. BUT, itsaid it was a special give away version and did I want to purchase the full program So its not the full program. I really like Gizmo but don't think it should be offering these things. Its just another form of advertising.

It worked for me after reading these posts but still says a limited edition on startup.

Exclusive? Then why do I already have it? I think it was Giveaway of the day.

Same issue w/ Gizmo's latest mess. Invalid Code. At the Register line it says Trial Copy since hasn't been Activated. Course no can Activate. What a gimmick to draw in users. Thanks for nothing.
Not first time for this kind of thing here. Actually Techdot site doing lot of same thing. Maybe bit harsh but who had time for this stuff.

Did you make sure that you copied the registration code correctly? Made sure that you did not have any trailing spaces at the end of code, or before it? I was able to register the software without problems in first try, with the registration code provided on the offer page, as explained in the article.

yep---same problem! activation code is invalid.....waste of time and effort that was!

Just dowloaded and my register code worked fine, but it said was trial offer. Does this mean after 30 days we buy or not use?
Also hope it can be copied to external backup without problems?

It says it's a time limited offer. I think it means that you have to download and activate within the given time. However, once you download and activate within the given time, the software should work fine, without any restrictions on features.

It's a trial copy. Asks to buy it. No registration/activation code button working anywhere.

It's not a trial copy. I installed the software on my own system. When the installation was completed, and I launched the software, a window popped up with a box where you could enter the registration code. When I pasted the code copied from the webpage there, it showed a message "Registered successfully". What was your experience?
Working fine for me. Maybe you have browser extensions or a security program blocking the activation code and download link? MC - Site Manager.

Never been a problem before. I disabled blocking in all security software. What should I look for?

I copied the registration code but when I put it in, I got a message saying the code was not valid. Has anyone else had this experience? January 15, 8:15 a.m.

Double check the code after entering, before activating. It took me two times to get everything right, then worked.

Same here, Invalid reg code :/
