Our rating:

Pros & Cons:

Pre-boot access control. Encryption in hibernation mode. Includes optional utilities for encryption of files, "containers", voice, thumb drives. Free Compusec is free for both personal and business use.
You won't be able to use standard methods for double-booting if you install this software.

Our Review:

FREE CompuSec is specifically designed to protect desktops and notebooks, using pre-boot authentication and full hard disk encryption. Access control requires you to enter your userID and password before the system will boot up. Free CompuSec is free for both personal and business use.

FREE CompuSec includes several other encryption utilities: Voice encryption, encryption of individual files, removable media—CDs, DVDs, USB thumb drives, and "Container" encryption (similar to TrueCrypt volumes).

The Pre-boot Authentication module is automatically installed on the drive to which the OS boots, but you don't actually have to apply Whole Disk Encryption to any drive if you don't want to.

FREE CompuSec was reviewed by on based on version 5.3.0.0.

CAUTION: At the BOTTOM of Free CompuSec Page here
http://www.ce-infosys.com/english/downloads/free_compusec

is a download link titled "If you wish to download any of it’s version, you can do it here."

That 'here' link takes you to an oriental language page which then redirects to a topless image page.

There does not appear to be a good download link .

Interesting. Searching Softpedia for this product returns a page with an internal download link from Softpedia which also works but when I copied this page URL into our product details the link returns a 'page removed permanently' message. I did however find another working download link at Freeware Files and the result of this scans clean with Viris total. Many thanks for pointing this out to us.MC - Site Manager.

Follow up on my recent post about Compusec:

I sent them the email below at the email on their contact page.. I got this system reply: Address not found. Your message wasn't delivered to de.sales@ce-infosys.com because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail. The response from the remote server was: 550 No Such User Here.

Don't know if they are out of business or their site was hacked or ??

Hi,

On your page here

http://www.ce-infosys.com/english/downloads/free_compusec

The download link at the bottom "If you wish to download any of it’s version, you can do it here ."

goes to an oriental language page which then redirects to a topless site.
