Finds of the Week is a list of web sites I've come across lately that are interesting, fun, or useful (or all three). I hope you enjoy them. -Rhiannon

100+ Alternative Search Engines
Use this list of search engines to specialize your searches. In addition to general search engines, here are some of the different kinds of search engines listed: kid safe, regional, social media, image and icon search, private and metasearch engines, people search engines, and search engines for news and blogs. Many good resources.

Disable Animated GIFs from Auto-Playing in Chrome and Firefox (or Opera)
If you think that "animated GIFs have come back with a vengeance and can be quite annoying when they play automatically while you’re browsing" then you'll find this article to be useful. If you enjoy animated GIF's, carry on and ignore this one. :)
If you use Opera, follow these directions: How to Install Chrome Extensions in Opera

Download Windows 10 Rollback Utility
With the free Windows 10 upgrade offer ending soon, and the ability to upgrade to Windows 10 and roll back to your current operating system and have your upgrade information stored electronically at Microsoft, this utility might come in handy. In addition to being able undo a failed or partial Windows 10 upgrade, the program moves Windows 10 installations to a new folder so that you can reverse the downgrade at any time with a few clicks. The download is an ISO file, follow the directions to create a bootable media to use it. Note: to download the program, they require you either like them on Facebook or provide a name and email address. The company promises never to use or give away your email, but if you'd rather provide a temporary email address you can use a service like Dispostable.

Those route planning suggestions are good -- thanks!

If I may ... Here's another helpful site that will do the math for you: www.travelmath.com

I like that none are Google, because they know too much about me already.

On my phone, I use Here maps because I can use it offline. I downloaded maps for Europe and used them without using expensive wireless data.

Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Good site, nice layout, thanks. :)

I'm currently downloading this handy tool and you don't need to even use a disposable email address: simply hit the download button! ;-)

PS Many thanks Rhiannon for the info.

You're welcome, I'm glad you like it. :)
