B1 Free Archiver is a simple, yet powerful archive manager for Android. One can create variations of archives for a particular purpose. Files can be packed in a popular zip format or a proprietary b1 format. Both archive formats support the creation of split archives with preset volume sizes (24 MB size for GMail, 32 MB, 700 MB for CDs etc.) or a custom volume size. The b1 format also allows to password-protect an archive with 256 bit AES encryption algorithm.
This app supports the largest amount of archive formats: b1, zip, jar, xpi, rar (rar5), 7z, arj, bz2, bzip2, tbz2, tbz, txz, cab, chm, chi, chq, chw, hxs, hxi, hxr, hxq, hxw, lit, cpio, deb, gz, gzip, tgz, tpz, hfs, iso, lzh, lha, lzma, rpm, tar, xar, z, taz, xz, dmg, cb7, cbr, cbt, cbz.
It can be used for file management functions due to its handy navigation and copy/paste/delete/rename/sort features. The app allows you to create bookmarks for the most frequently used folders. Tapping on a file brings a contextual menu with basic options, while long-tapping provides access to a wider variety of options. The Multi Select option allows for working with multiple archives, files or folders: user can check several of them and give a command to be applied to all. This includes move, copy, delete, zip and extract commands.
It's possible to view comments for the archive, if there are any. There are no problems with displaying files which contain Latin, Cyrillic or any other characters.
