Atlas Obscura is an online magazine that aims "to inspire wonder and curiosity about the incredible world we all share" and is "the definitive guide to the world's hidden wonders".
Atlas Obscura is an excellent site to find "hidden places, incredible history, scientific marvels, and gastronomical wonders". It has such a wide range of interesting content that it doesn't fit neatly into one category. You can discover hidden wonders in 169 countries and 1,451 cities, read stories about the world's oldest footprints made by ancient bugs, find a lost John Coltrane record, discover why it's so hard to paint lighting or learn what people eat in space. A new section titled Gastro Obscura is dedicated to stories exploring offbeat areas of food and drink. I visit the site regularly, it's a pleasant change of pace.
If you like unusual articles about interesting and unusual topics, Atlas Obscura is worth keeping an eye on.
