S.T.A.L.K.E.R - LOST ALPHA
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Lost Alpha is a standalone mod for the 2003 hit game S.T.A.L.K.E.R, and it's completely free and doesn't require the base game to play. Lost Alpha restores all the content cut from first-person shooter survival game S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl and redesigns all these levels also adding new content to bring in a full-fledged game.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Lost Alpha retraces back to the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R games in a post apocalyptic atmosphere. The game is a sandbox first person survival shooter with light RPG elements. The story takes place in a place called "The Zone" which is like hell on earth where strange and deadly anomalies dot the land. The people who enter THE ZONE illegally are called S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S (short for Scavengers, Trespassers, Adventurers, Loners, Killers, Explorers, Robbers). There are many other factions within the game, like the Military, Bandits, Duty, Freedom, Mercenaries etc.
The effort that has been made into making the game, attention to detail, the atmosphere, diverse game worlds, hidden secrets, creepy locations, amazing set-pieces, and high production values makes it a must-play game. If S.T.A.L.K.E.R was great, Lost Alpha is amazing, considering that it is totally free.

I installed STALKER LOST ALPHA after reading your post and I have been playing quite often and enjoying it.
It runs quite well on my windows 7 except some occasional crash.
It is truly a great find.
Hi folks, please excuse my computer ignorance (well, one of the reasons why I've joined the site :) I used to live within an XP environment. I was never the biggest pro with computers, but Windows 7 had really sent me into a spin (forget Windows 8!!)
For those of us who are far more limited but would love to have this game to play on our desktops.... Might there be some far less complex means of downloading this program; something akin to clicking a button and having saved on our desktop, then "run", then accepting a couple of disclaimers, and "poof" an icon will have been created and we merely need click on it to open??
Thanks (from a newbie)
Thanks George. Unfortunatly for me, things like chosing the right files for extraction, using the correct link for downloading patches, "multiple mods", microsoft framework changes or repairs, etc. ... would typically turn into a 1/2 day effort that seemingly always ends in my trying to figure
1) exactly how to identically replicate the process on my Windows 7 desktop, as you had shown in your video. Ultimately, even while attempting to directly follow Microsoft instructions for various tasks, i find myself groping to understand why certain boxes, phrases, or menus just don't match up with those options that might come up on my computer.
2) how to undo issues suddenly causing system errors, decreased computer functionality at either start up or while running, or conflicts I created to other programs by altering, adding, or deleting certain program files.
The net result? Well, best case perhaps would be my ultimate success in the download after the better part of a day spent. Worst case would be as described above, followed by 2 or more days of not working due to inadvertent screw ups that I've caused myself by not having a functional computer, LOL.
Guess, that's why there are sites like this for those more skilled with computers..., and books, remedial videos, & classes for those (such as myself) who simply need to get a better handle on adapting to new computers & their updated/changed Windows Programs.
Ok I have downloaded all the zipped files, now what do I do to get them all together and install the game. I have looked for instructions and could not find any.
Many thanks, James
Thank you George.
Looks great. However, for the last 2 days when I have attempted to DL the patch, I continually get _ Unknown Network Error - and the DL fails!!!
Any help or suggestions would be more than welcome as I understand the patch is required to launch the game.
Did you use the direct download?
Thanks for the help. The 2 links shown are both for the direct download. Yes I did try both of these.
Many broken files after unrar but seems to play ok. I will see.
