Scan and save into multi-page PDF with automatic text recognition.
Pros & Cons:
Adobe Scan is a smart scanning app that makes it easy for you to create a text-searchable PDF file by simply snapping any documents with your device camera.
To use this app, you will need to sign into an Adobe Document Cloud account to save your scanned PDF files so that you can use them from anywhere. If you don't have an account, you can easily sign up one for free.
Compared with Text Fairly, Adobe Scan works more intuitively in some aspects. When you run this app, it automatically searches documents in front of your device camera and scans them using Adobe’s advanced image processing techniques that find the edges and text boundaries of your documents to capture and clean the images.
The app is optimized with support for multiple pages. It allows you to continue a task with multiple scans.
After scanning, you can preview and fine-tune scanned documents with editing tools. With which you can crop, rotate and enhance scanned pages. Moreover, you can insert, remove or reorder pages to the way you like.
When finished, tap "Save PDF". The app then starts to upload the PDF document to Adobe Document Cloud and transforms the PDF file with Optical Character Recognition, so that you can search, highlight, mark-up and comment on the file with Adobe Acrobat Reader or any other supporting PDF readers or editors.
The results of a text-searchable pdf file, however, depend on the quality of the original documents and the environment in which you scan. Unlike Text Fairly, this app unfortunately does not show the result of scanned text. From within Adobe Scan, you can however open a PDF document in Acrobat Reader to find out to what extent it is text searchable.
