The sound effects are free to use after registerting at the site. The licensing terms for free sounds are attribution/credit required in the form of a credit/link back to the website.

If that licensing structure isn’t workable for a project, these two sites are worth a look:

Sound Bible has free sound clips, sound effects, and sound bites. The sounds are all either public domain or labeled with a Creative Commons license. No registration is needed to download files.

Freesound is a collaborative repository of over 400,000 CC licensed sounds and effects. Various Creative Commons licenses are used on the site, check the license for any audio files you want to use. You need to register to download files.

If you’re looking for sound effects for a project one of these sites should have it.
