An End-of-year Thank-you from Gizmo

Another year draws to an end marking yet another year of tumultuous change in the world of computers. These changes are there for all to see. The Microsoft world is in limbo awaiting Windows 10 after the widespread market rejection of Windows 8 while Apple and Google have climbed to new heights capitalizing brilliantly on the worldwide move to mobile devices.
With the rise of mobile and social media we see a new audience for software emerging and now dominating the marketplace. An audience who expect apps to be available for free in abundance. Not only free but also disposable; to be acquired and abandoned at will as needs change and fashions dictate.
While there are many who lament these changes they are a reality and Gizmo's Freeware has had to adapt to that reality. We are here to meet the needs of our users and as these needs change so must we.
In the new year we will be slowly changing the focus of Gizmo's Freeware to better meet these changing needs. No, we won't be abandoning our traditional Windows desktop users who remain at the core of our mission but they will need to share the stage more equally with mobile apps.
This represents a big challenge but Gizmo’s Freeware has always been a strong community site so with your assistance and patience I’m sure we can meet these challenges and make the site better than ever.
As the year draws to an end I’d like to thank all our regular users for their loyalty and contribution through their thousands of posts and comments. I’d particularly like to thank our volunteer editors and tireless moderators without whose efforts, this site could not exist.
To all of you scattered across the world in 153 different countries, I wish a healthy, peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Thank you, Gizmo. Your site is a delight.
Quality information uncluttered by Graphic Designers on speed.

I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into the Gizmo's community.

I would gladly echo many many of these kudos to Gizmo; still I would like to add that a lot of the value of this site comes from the useful, civil, and apposite content that is so often found in the comments section. (sometimes Gizmo's Freeware seem almost an oasis in today's WWW.)

So Shalom to all you folks who contribute in this way also!

Thanks for the KUDOS to all of us "commentators" here at Gizmo's Freeware...

We love you back, Gizmo and Co! I teach computing to friends n family and yours is the first site I recommend. Besides that, what everyone else has said above.

Thank you very much, Gizmo! And keep up the amazing job, day after day! :-)

Repeating a message I left 2 days ago (, a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a NEW YEAR FULL OF JOYS to each of you and to all the ones who are close to you!

You are my mainstay for quality apps and software for free that help me so much financially as well as just plain work-wise. Please stay around for us and the addition of more mobile help is warrented and will be welcomed as long as the desktop, cloud and other types remain in force for those of us who need them. I could just give you a big ol' thank you kiss on your forehead for all you do for us throughout the year! And your volunteers too~ Onward and upward...

Good onya Gizmo !

Seasons greetings to you and all the good guys & gals that make up your team.
Whenever I need an honest opinion on any software, I always head straight to Tech Support Alert. I couldn't imagine life without this site.

Best wishes from Bundanoon, Australia.

jorgeem1717 took the words right out of my mouth. Nothing I can add to improve on that.

Best Holiday wishes to all of you.

Many thanks and great successes in the new year to techsupportalert/ Gizmo/Midnight Cowboy and all the software reviewers that enable the rest of us to remain safe and secure on our various platforms. The free stuff is a very nice addition also. :-_))

Great site, the information here is priceless. I wish you, all of you here and your family and friends, all the best over the coming year.

Thanks Gizmo for this awesome Tech knowledge & Rock this coming new year just as how rocking you are.

Cheers to 2015....

Post Script to earlier comment:

Gizmo's Freeware may focus on zero-cost solutions, and the site itself be free (not to mention free of advertising), but it does cost real money to maintain.

Gizmo and his extraordinary collaborators knock themselves out all through the year on our behalf; hopefully, other frequenters of the site will join me in making a contribution to help defray the costs and sustain their worthy, indeed essential, efforts.

Many thanks, Gizmo. Really.
Your site provides top-notch content for free and the security guides and reviews are the best yet most simple to follow I found around.
I wish you and the site all the best for the year 2015.

Happy Holidays Gizmo,

This the gold standard for software research, I never install anything without seeing if it passes the sniff test here, for the past five years me and my computers thank you !

I'm sure the future here is bright,

Thanks again ,

Bud :)

Before we get too carried away with mobile apps on tiny screens, let's remember that no serious work is done on tiny devices with small screens. I don't consider e-mail, texting, social media, and games serious work.

Thank you for all you do, Gizmo. And all your helpers as well. You are all a blessing to us all.

Thanks once more to Gizmo, M.C. and ALL of the editors and contributors who help maintain this truly essential site -- with warmest best wishes for the holidays and coming year: health, peace, contentment.

Thanks to you and your team of volunteers that help make this all happen. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and ask folks to remember the Reason for the Season.

I have been a PC guy for 40+ years and finally got a smart phone and table it is time to get with the 2000's so seeing some good right ups and reviews on Apps will be a help too. I will always be a PC guy though give me my 24" and 22" monitors side by side any day:)

Looking forward to what 2015 has to bring!

Yea this is my first choice for freeware and info..

Zalig Kerstfeest en Gelukkig Nieuwjaar!

This is the first place I go to for Linux apps. As for the decline of Windows, good that you see the handwriting on the wall and are going with the times.

Thank You Gizmo, I wish you your Family and Friends, Merry Christmas and all the best for the year 2015

Thank you Gizmo for being an awesome site.Keep going!!

Best wishes from India

Thank you for the many, many years of helpful hints and tips. I help other "older" computer users and often guide them to your site. You've made many hesitant users into confident, safe "surfers" here in Canada. Please continue to provide the excellent information we all need. I'm looking forward to learning more "new" things in my seventh decade.

It was an informative year here in Gizmo like the years before that which is great. shows the quality of the content of this website has not been degraded like many other websites which lose sight of their purpose after few years.
congratz to another successful year here at Gizmo and i wish you all happiness and joy.

and thank you gizmo for helping to teach an old dog new tricks. for taking me out of the dark ages and into the light. happy holidays

Greeting Ian Richard .....

You have provided me with helpful information and tips that have made my computer experience a pleasant and joyful ride. I'm neither a geek nor a techy so I have learned to appreciate you sharing your knowledge with me which is sincerely and greatly appreciated. I have learned so much here at Gizmo's Freeware that I must thank you from the bottom of my heart. Looking forward for the New Year and what you will be serving for our enjoyment. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH and I wish you and everyone at Gizmo's Freeware a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a PROSPEROUS and HAPPY NEW YEAR..... May Peace and JOY be upon you....

Thanks, Gizmo, for all the holiday cheer, as well as the look into the future of Gizmo's Freeware.
I would like to personally thank all of Gizmo's contributors for the tons of brilliant articles about software to make my (computing) life more interesting, and especially, more secure.
It will be interesting to see security articles and suggestions regarding various mobile OS's.
I am happy to see the change coming. Can't wait!
