This category is reserved for finds by our Editor Rhiannon Dent.

Items should consist of at least two paragraphs.

The first should be a "teaser" paragraph. This paragraph will be automatically published in our RSS feed. It should state the nature of the find and the benefits without mentioning the product name or providing a product link. For example:

"For months I've been looking for a good way of deleting 'undeletable' files. Finally I've discovered a free utility that does the job reliably and simply."

The second paragraph should at the very least, expand the benefits, name the product and provide a product link. For example:

"Unlocker is a tiny 230KB utility that works with Windows 2000 and XP. Vista users are out of luck. Just right click on the 'undeletable file', select 'Delete with Unlocker' from the context menu and next time you boot the file will be gone for good."

You can have a third paragraph if you wish; indeed as many as you like. However there must at least be a second paragraph after the opening "teaser" paragraph.

All the illustrations are printable so they can be colored (or not) later and are segmented enough that using the color picker is easy.

150,000+ Free Images And Sounds For Microsoft Office

Download over 150,000 free images, clip collections, sounds and templates from Microsoft for use with Office.

I hadn't been to Office Online for quite a while, mostly because I've been frustrated with the search features....errrr, I should say the lack thereof.
Office Online has always had clip art, templates, and more recently, photos that you could download for free.
The templates have been limited to Word and other Office applications, though there have been many that worked in Open Office as well.

26 Gorgeous Aurora and Color Spectrum Wallpapers

Great collection of wallpapers that have Aurora and Color Spectrum themes.

I love these wallpapers, they are so colorful.....but then, I haven't met a color I didn't like.

The wallpapers come in full screen and wide screen (in various resolutions) plus a few for the iPhone.
I didn't see any for multi-monitors.
The screen resolution varies from wallpaper to wallpaper and within wallpaper packs.

Some of the wallpapers are individual downloads, others come in wallpaper packs.

Compare 40+ Online To-Do Lists

This site compares over 40 different online To-Do lists.

One of the neat things about this site is that it lists the additional features of each program other than the standard options most to-do's have, like creating and deleting things, editing, and adding lists and tasks.
The list includes some of the most popular online to-list sites such as Backpack and Remember The Milk. Also listed are many that look useful but that I haven't heard of.

If the perfect online to-do list hasn't dropped into your lap yet, have a look here.

Quickly Convert 24 Hour Time To 12 Hour Time

Whether one uses the 12 hour system or the 24 hour system, here's a handy tip for quick conversion.

Having grown up using a 12 hour clock and the Imperial measuring system, I'm always on the lookout for easy ways to convert one thing to another - Imperial to Metric and back again. Preferably without having to do much math.

The Alien Eyes blog has a great tip for converting time.

I cheerfully ignored the comments that implied everyone should have learned this from their (insert grade or level) math teacher, feel free to do the same.

A wonderful compilation of the best free (and legal) sites for free stock images.

Having spent way too much time over the years looking for a photo or image for a small project, I was thrilled to run across this site. Sort of. You see, I've been spending an inordinate amount of time looking at images from the sites on this list.

I'm highly impressed with the quality of the images available from the sites I've viewed.

The sites are grouped by category and contain most everything related to images.

Free Web-Based Vector Editor

[This Editor is no longer online.]

Create scalable vector art using your browser

So, I get this email this morning from this company I’ve been keeping an eye on because they have an image editor with lots of potential. It seems they’ve gone and created a vector art program while I wasn’t looking (think Adobe Illustrator).
I’ve been enjoying playing around with it today even though I don’t know how to make anything other than boxes and other shapes.

[Expired] Free Ten Week Photoshop Course

Sign up for a free ten week Photoshop course at this site.

creativetechs has put together a 10 week Photoshop class at no charge.
The class is geared towards Mac computers and will be using CS4 (Adobe Creative Suite 4), though they mention that most of the class content also applies to earlier versions of Photoshop, as well as PC users. I couldn't find any reference to what earlier Photoshop versions will work.
