Inkjet Printer Cartridges: Review of Carrot Ink

Web Site: www.carrot ink.com

This is a web based inkjet cartridge supply company founded in 1998.

Impressions were favorable right from the start.  If you are like me and like clean, simple web design, then you'll love this site.  Carrotlink have clearly had their site professionally designed and it shows.

To locate your cartridge, you select then printer brand from the front page then select your cartridge by part number or printer model from a series of pull down lists. Not quite as nice as a search box on the front page but it works well enough.

Once you get to the right page you will have a variety of cartridge options available including a "Carrot bunch" which is essentially a value pack of 6 or so cartridges.

We opted for the plain vanilla single item choice and prices were incredibly sharp though it should be stated that two of the cartridges in out test purchase batch were on special and this lowered the cost beyond normal levels.

Alas unlike some other sites, shipping is not free.

You can chose shipping via USPS  for $3.95 or FedEx next business day at $7.95. We opted for the former.

The products arrived as ordered and in good condition 7 days (5 business days) after ordering. About average for USPS.

Carrotink offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on their cartridges and will refund or exchange whether opened and/or used.  To test this claim, we returned some of cartridges in a used condition and yes indeed, they gave us a full refund. Only a few suppliers offer this level of guarantee and I must say we were impressed.

I should also say that CarrotInk make claims that their compatible cartridges give results as good as or better than OEM cartridges. Having used both their black and color cartridges I can concur that the results were just as good.  Whether they were better, well...

Overall, CarrotInk offer great products at excellent  prices with a reassuring returns policy coupled with an attractive and easy to use web site. If the shipping was free it would jump to the top of our list.

I had a bad result with www.carrotink.com in the past, and I was surprised to see it doing so well in this survey. In my case, I ordered a tri-color inkjet cartridge for my HP DeskJet printer. Everything was okay for about a day or two, and then the magenta in the tri-color cartridge stopped working. I had a slightly difficult time getting the info necessary to ship back the defective cartridge. I was given the choice of a replacement cartridge, or my money back, so I chose replacement cartridge. Well, guess what? That replacement cartridge exhibited the same problem after a period of about a day. This time, I asked for my money back, and I won't do business with them again (the DeskJet worked just fine with a hastily procured replacement cartridge from Wal-Mart). I have been using www.inkjetsuperstore.com for a couple of years now for all my HP toner and HP inkjet needs, and they consistantly are the least expensive, and I've never had problems with their customer service, even for a rare return of a defective cartridge last summer. They do charge a flat rate shipping fee of $4.95, so I order all my printing needs in one order to minimize the impact of that shipping cost. Obviously, you wouldn't want to pay that shipping if you were just going to order one or two inkjet cartridges. Also, they allow for the return of opened/used items as well.

Similar experience for me. Ordered a black cartridge and it was empty/defective. I will look into inkjetsuperstore for my next buy.

Just noticed my printer had leaked ink all over. I always bought genuine HP cartridges. For that much money you'd think they'd at least make a quality product. Last HP printer ever me. You too I hope - vote with your dollars!

Just talking about "Carrot Ink". Oh well - maybe its a problem with that type of cartridge. I'm cleaning up puddles of genuine HP ink all over my kitchen counter where I had the printer for a few days.

Carrot Inks black ink cartrages for my HP 970 Cxi leak like crazy. It has almost ruined my fairly new printer. plus the carpet under my computer table, plus the computer table itself.

I have seen where Karen in Customer Service refused to re-emburse one cumtomer whose printer was ruined by the ink leaking on his circuit board and killing the machine!

I have just emailed them and don't know what their reply will be yet.

Wish me luck, Ed
