YPOPS Problem

For years I have successfully used YPOPS with OE Express and Outlook 2003 for receiving and sending email from my free Yahoo account. And loved it. But it no longer works. I now get various messages including "554 Mailbox Unavailable", depending on how I have YPOPS and my mail client configured at the moment. I have tried everything I can think of; uninstalling and reinstalling YPOPS, changing ports, changing localhost to/from 127.0.0.1, trying Thunderbird, using another computer, suspending my firewall and AVG virus protection, but nothing works.

My computer is a Dell E510 running Windows XP Pro.

Is anyone else having a problem? Any suggestions? Thanks...

I'm frustrated and confused.

I have the same problem coupled with that I cannot send my mail out - bounces back with system admin for at least 2 to 3 times then the mail will finally go. THis has been going on for so long (at least 3 months) I'm about to give up on Ypops - what do people think out there? Is someone paying attention to this ypops problem or is everybody stumped and I have to switch to the paid service of 20.00 per year for the email forwarding.

Jerry, you can also use "WebMail" extension with Thunderbird if you want to.

I've been forwarding my free mail for years and all-of-a-sudden it just stopped a few days ago.

PS: I forgot to mention this worked for me (since this post mentions that this solution may not be universal).

When I changed my Yahoo mail account from 'classic' to 'new', all my emails downloaded immediately. Note: I use YPOPS! 9.5.1

Hope that helps.

Glyn,

The forwarding in Yahoo! only works for the premium account. Free Yahoo! mail cannot be forwarded.

Hi Jerry,
Had similar probs myself so I created a new account with Gmail which feeds direct into my Thunderbird, then went into Yahoo account options and forwarded my stuff from them to the Gmail address. Works perfect with my Avast 4.8 & NetVeda setup.
Hope this helps - Glyn.

Glyn, thanks for the info but I'm using the free Yahoo email and I don't see any option to forward my mail to another account without paying for the Plus version. Which version do you have?
Thanks for your time...
