I'm a newbie and I used MS Publisher 2003 to create a website that worked fine in Internet explorer, but when I tried Google Chrome and Firefox the home page came up but the links don't work.
I need to get this website operational ASAP so please help Michael |

One way to fix this is to look at the code in a text editor and adjust it.
If you only have to fix the links, then there is not too much to do. In fact if the problem is the same for all the links, you might even be able to do a search & replace for the issue. For example: -- Get a free text editor such as NoteTab Lite. -- Browse to your website in Internet Explorer or any browser. -- Save the page as an HTML file to your My Documents folder or wherever. -- Open the file in your text editor. -- See what the links look like and why they don't work, then fix them. -- If it is the same issue with all links, use the Search and Replace function to fix them all at the same time. -- FTP the new file (index.html or whatever page it is) up to your site. Never overwrite a file while testing, save the old file first. In your FTP app, while on your website, find the file you want to change. Let's assume it's index.html. Change the file name to index.html.bak1, by just adding .bak1 onto the end of it. If you maintain a series of backup pages they will be .bak2, .bak3 etc. Then FTP the new index.html file up to the site. If it doesn't work you can revert to the old file by deleting the new one, then removing the .bak1 off the original file. Once you have got your web page looking OK in your main browser, check what it looks like in other browsers by going to browsershots.org, deselect all the browsers there by selecting the option None, then check two or three browsers you are interested in. Enter website name and hit Go. Return every few minutes to see if they have grabbed the page yet. Renew the page if the queue is over 30 minutes. If you get stuck, give us the URL (private via PM if you like) and we'll check it out for you. |

Hi Chris,
Did you get my email regarding the links that work in Internet Explorer but do not work on Google Chrome and Firefox? Michael Last edited by MidnightCowboy; 21. Jul 2011 at 02:51 PM. Reason: Unnecessary promotional link removed |
