I created photo slideshows for customers. I put the photos to music. I have been doing this but I want to create a website. On the website, I want the potential customers to be able to upload the photos that they want me to use to create the slideshow. I want the photos to be visible to me so I can store them on my own hard drive, but not visible to anyone else besides the person who sends this to me. How do I go about setting something like this up? I also want to show off segments of the slideshows that I have already put together to showcase my work. Any ideas on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Money is not an extreme issue, but obviously if there is a cost-affordable way, I would appreciate the input. Please direct me to any relevant sources that could help me. Thanks....

I am not a website expert, and I do not know if such a software is there. But, I think what you are asking for, requires a login with password system, apart from the system needed to store photos.

I suggest that you advertise this job on Elance [elance.com]. You will get some very low quotes and to be honest, somebody who is experienced with database-driven websites will do a much better job then you will be able to.
There are several different ways to do this but the critical factor is how to display your portfolio image galleries / slideshows with accompanying music on a website. It would help to know what software is used for this on the client's local PC. It could be that there is a Joomla CMS plugin to do this kind of thing as that is the best multimedia CMS. You could phrase the ad something like this: Website needed A website is needed for a central work collection point and portfolio display, for an image slideshow with music creator. The site will provide a facility for the upload of images to private site areas, one per client. The images are then downloaded and processed by the site owner locally. The resulting work files [image slideshows with music] are sent to the client independently of the site although a download facility from the site may be useful. A portfolio display section shall be provided, where some parts of completed work can be shown. Therefore the site needs: 1. An upload facility with a private section per client. 2. The ability to display an image gallery/slideshow with music. Please quote for the complete website build, the length of the warranty, the time of full free support, the cost, and the type of website framework to be used (eg PHP - MySQL, CMS [which one], ASP, etc). You could try this website that gives you many tools to build your own website.
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ Also Stu Nicholls has some great jQuery examples that are free to showcase a slideshow for a website. http://www.istu.co.uk/ Or most hosts have website templates that could get you started. Otherwise as some mentioned above you will need a professional web designer. Best of luck. |

I have same problem (not actually a problem) wherein I wanted to make a website exclusively to our group. I am not an experienced web designer myself or have an educational background so I look for some reliable web builders online, and I can say that all my efforts were rewarded when I stumbled across this site list: http://www.webhostingsearch.com/web-tools.php (the Website Builders and Web Site Generation list) I could say that this is really helpful for an amateur like me. hope that will help you too.
