Have you set it to close if there are no updates? If you have, set it to open even if there are no updates, or activate the beta updates, and see if it opens the results every 30mins. Then you can see of it works. If it does not work, it will not open the results in your browser. This is how I determined that it does work for me. However, I do not run UDC in the background, I only start it when I check for updates.

It's a problem that FileHippo's Update Checker only speaks English and therefor installs English programs by default. It can make a terrific mess in peoples PCs if they don't realise this before using it. F-Secure's (free) Health Check and Secunia PSI have a very clear advantage there as they offer international services. Both are available as online scanners and Secunia also comes in a download-able software version.

F-Secure's Health Check is often forgotten but it's a really fine scanner. I think perhaps it's confused with F-Secures free online anti-malware scanner. Here's the link for their Health Check: http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home...ces/fshc.shtml

The problem for me is F-Secure's Health Check doesn't work with Firefox and with Internet Explorer too.

You have to uninstall it's little program. And then reinstall it. I too have problems with that scanner. Further more I have to start the scanner several times before it'll run - in compatibility mode. I have IE8.

Uninstall what ? It is scanner run from web page and I don't have to install anything.
During the run on Internet Explorer (IE 8) I have message: 'An add-on for this website failed to run. Check the security settings in Internet Options for potential conflicts.'

Yes, the online scanner installs a small program. Search and you shall find:

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files

You need to renew it - delete and then let the online scanner install a new object.
