Use this thread to discuss KC Softwares' Software Update Monitor (SUMo) mentioned in the Best Free Software Update Monitor article.

Had an issue with Sumo a while back which locked my CPU at 100% and froze everything during update. I later learned via some very helpful comments on the main site here that this was due to a severe storm taking out the update servers in France! Having at that time been forced to try out other applications I have since returned to Sumo because I believe it offers the best balance between information, usability and accuracy.

It seems that the renaming issue has been raised and acknowledged by the developer. So too the CPU load.

They are trying to make it possible for the user to choose the thread priority of the scanning and checking processes. The lower the priority, the less it will interfere with any other programs you are running.
Oh, did you mean you want it to start with Windows and then keep checking for updates throughout the time the computer is on? I understood that you would prefer that the processes of checking and searching to demand less of your CPU while you run other processes.

No, I didn't mention still about starting with Windows (I think it is available already) and then keep checking for updates because I haven't see connection between my request and this one. Anyway I don't have username to add my request.

Hello one and all,
Just an observation I've noticed recently: Having downloaded Sumo lite, I found that after an 'a2 free' scan, a number of Sumo references came up as medium risks: 'Trace.Directory.Sumo!A2' and 'Trace.File.Sumo!A2' Wondered if anyone else has come across this possible "hiccup" with Sumo Lite and a2 free? Cheers djj01 ps. my apoligies if this has been covered before. |

Have you tried scanning it at VirusTotal? I would be interested to hear what the results are.
I hope that you have the file called sumo_lite.exe. Anything else is bound to register some problems.

I've e-mailed them about this before, but they just told me to add SUMO in the whitelist. That seems to be the only solution for now. Last edited by J_L; 07. May 2010 at 01:35 AM. |
