Differences between Google Chrome browser and Chrome OS?

Are they the same core-wise or is the Chrome OS more heavy equipped for security?

Well, it's a little ambiguous there, but I just want to know which is more secure. A listing of their differences would be nice to know.

Cannot see how you can compare an O/S with a browser!
