I thought this was a good article. It is true that with Win 7, you don't need a lot of third party software. But you do need the newer hardware to make all that's built into Win 7 run efficiently. You can achieve the same result with Win XP, but you do need a few select pieces of third party software to make up for what XP lacks in comparison to Win 7. And you don't need the newest hardware to do it. Linux Vs. Windows? The ability to make Windows comparable to Linux has always been there. Microsoft just did a terrible job of making the average computer user aware of it. I guess this was a good thing for techs like me. But the average computer user is getting smarter all the time. After all, most personal computer users will have been using them for all of their lives.

Win7 backup is not all that great, extremely confining in options, and not that reliable. Twice backups have failed me in a short time frame, one just plain would not work, the other was incompatible with the rescue disk, the rescue disk created with that very system and machine. Said it was the wrong version of windows!!!

the backup isn't ideal for everyone... I prefer to have a backup image that is on a separate external harddrive... when harddrive fails and needs to be replaced, that windows backup image isnt going to help when you cant get to it :S
I saw it can go to dvd/cd but that was for 10 years ago when laptops come standard with those... Windows need to support usb drives before I even think about using it. |
