Not that I really need to save a chunk of memory with 4G to play with, but out of interest I decided to revisit SideSlide which I first came across some time ago.
http://www.northglide.com/sideslide.html The configuration possibilities are endless, and with it I've managed to dispense with Stickies, SE-Tray Menu, ObjectDock and DS Clock. The memory use on my system is around 11MB. The resource meter is a custom build of Rainmeter just set to stay "on top" in an empty space. Side Slide.jpg

Hi MC,
looks promising. Can it display CPU, MEM usage etc. in diagram/graphic format too. Maybe you can reconfigure it that way and attach another screenshot.

The Rainmeter config is merely superimposed into an empty space on SideSlide and is in no way connected with it. Yes, Rainmeter will display whatever it can "measure" in several different formats but IMO Samurize is easier because you can configure it from a GUI instead of having to script everything. I used Samurize extensively on XP and it also works on W7 if your version includes compatibility mode. Might not permit some network related measurements though such as established TCP connections.

Btw, I currently reduced my measuring graphs to the ones that Process Explorer provides for the task bar. I use CPU, Mem and I/O. I use Networx for traffic graphs.

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...iveGLEAM.shtml Selectable targets and you can change the icon background colors by editing the .ini file, once it's been created. Anyone preferring a digital network display might also like Cool Beans System Info. http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...tem-Info.shtml Just run the program, disable everything else from the main group except network and set the display to "large" (my preference anyway). You can of course keep everything if you prefer or set up separate meters.

For some reason, I can't get this thing off the launching pad. From the very start it will not tuck to an edge or corner. When I create a container, I get seem to get it to hold status. I sure like the concept to this, and the idea that I might be able to reduce 3 or 4 programs down to 1 appeals to me; just can't seem to get it done at this time.

I set mine with a slight gap between top and side and didn't experience the issue you describe. I did have problems with the auto-roll-up though when either it wouldn't stay "down" or refused to go "up" Doubtless these issues will vary between systems but I didn't find them enough to put me off using it.

Well I dusted it off and tried again. I finally got it to position by using attach command and THEN moving it. I guess I'll keep playing with it a bit. I'm an old dog who can still learn new tricks. (Which, by the way, the scientists say is quite normal for old dogs)
