Google OS is for notebooks, and is in development. There are other two alternatives to Google OS, which can be used on notebooks.
Below are the names, and links to their reviews. Jolicloud Netbook OS : http://lifehacker.com/5423574/jolicl...p-applications Moblin Netbook OS : http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/the-mob...for-its-money/ From the reviews, it seems like these are good alternatives, for people who want to try notebook OS... similar to Google OS.

Looks like both Jolicloud and Moblin OSes allow desktop applications to be installed, but the cloud-based Chrome OS doesn't seem to allow, at least up to this stage the details they disclosed, or does it?

You are right. As of now it does not. Lets hope they release a desktop version that will be made available free and for d/l. I'm hoping for one since it will give a lot of old systems new life like my old Pentium IV.
