Sounds interesting. However, nothing is mentioned what type of application it will support. Can you still run Windows based applications on it when they revamp the architecture completely? If not, I don't have much hope they can get enough market share. Will be very exciting to watch that development...

About Google OS compatibility...
"For application developers, the web is the platform. All web-based applications will automatically work and new applications can be written using your favorite web technologies. And of course, these apps will run not only on Google Chrome OS, but on any standards-based browser on Windows, Mac and Linux thereby giving developers the largest user base of any platform." Quoted from article linked below.

Well, that only says that everything that runs in a browser runs in Chrome OS. It would be a joke if not. I am wondering about the other way around.

Default Will Google Chrome OS succeed or fail?

This is good news. Welcome new competitor to M$.

One says: Five reasons Chrome OS will succeed

The other says: Five Reasons Google Chrome OS Will Fail

Who says the right thing, yet to be seen.

You might as well call it Linux (Google Distro) as it uses the Linux kernel.

Google is paving the way to the future on Linux with
Android (Linux kernel on mobile phones) and their Google OS.

This just might be the way linux will penetrate the market. Hopefully paving the way for broader acceptance of linux which in turn will improve other support issues. :-)

Cheers

Do you think they'll include IE8 as the browser? If not Microsoft could sue for not allowing competitive choice
