That will be a poor strategy if they develop an OS which can run Chrome, FF but not IE

Just a short question, since Google Chrome OS is based on the Linux kernel, and it is open source, it will be free (as in freedom to use in any way we want to) right? Wonder if it will be counted as a Linux distro then.

While you are checking out the new Google OS, also go check out Google Wave. It's cool!

http://wave.google.com/

If you've got an extra hour or so, go ahead and view the demo.

Nice idea, but Google Chrome OS is currently vaporware.
It's also not the first Linux "browser only" distro.

The real question for me is...

WHY ISN;T GOOGLE CHROME (the browser)
AVAILABLE FOR LINUX??????

Hey Guys - Google Chrome OS is not meant to be a fully fledged operating system. Neither is it meant as an alternative to Windows. Google have played it smart by aiming their initial foray into the realm of operating systems purely at the limited but burgeoning netbook market. Let's face it, given the dismal failure of Vista and nonacceptance of Linux in this area...the netbook market is wide open.

Chrome Google OS will be based purely on cloud computing principles...I really can't see it being much more than an extension of the Chrome browser, with links to Google online apps included.

Will this lead to Google, eventually, upping the ante and taking on M$ with a fully fledged OS......my money says that is near a certainty!

cheers....JIM

Just like when M$ first introduced xps format as an 'alternative', but not 'replacement', to pdf format

Default That has been intended?

Check this out also:

Google Chrome: Hey, That Logo Looks Vaguely Familiar

"the Chrome and Windows Vista logos are not true twins, but they’re both round and shiny, with the same color scheme–red, green, yellow, and blue."
