Wildman has just posted here to caution against buying games with a memory requirement beyond the capacity of your computer to supply.
This has reminded me about the dangers of attempting memory upgrades in general for other reasons. Most motherboards have a spare slot or two for something and often folks just buy stuff and plug it in. In memory terms this is not a good idea and you must consult your MB instructions or local service agent before spending your money. Every MB is different but most require that two or more memories paired together should be of identical capacity, certainly of the same frequency and usually the same marque too. Because this is such a critical area I don't recommend anyone without the specific knowledge to attempt an upgrade without seeking qualified advice first. It's also worth remembering that the memory support capacity of budget grade motherboards is often not as high as it says on the box!
