Greetings all.
I want to bring to your attentions, a really great browser. It is minimal, with few features but it's gui is amazingly innovative. When you start it up, you get a clock, a list of preset languages and a list of hotkeys. It's minimal ui can be adjusted easily. You can change it's color, basically. But most notable is the speed. The speed of this browser is amazing. ...And I can't help but wonder how a browser this fast is almost completely unknown. http://dmkho.tripod.com/ Please try it and tell me what you all think. |

Thanks for the suggestion, but although, the site has an overall green WOT rating, the WOT ratings for Vendor Reliability, Privacy are not good. Makes me feel uncomfortable of this software.

Wha? I didn't have WOT installed. I was using internet explorer at the time.
Please do some more research about it. I've heard that WOT can have a lot of false positives sometimes. People give ratings to otherwise legit websites, so I don't know what to think. I'd like to know what's what? If anyone has any new information to bring to the table, I'm all ears. |

First impressions(after a few minutes) are that it's impressive. Very innovative and stripped down to the core. Dual function for address bar and the browser loads pages fast. I wonder what layout engine it uses. Also its minimal and uses less resources. Should find a place in Lightweight Browsers section.
I would rather forget the WOT ratings mostly because its a less known browser. Chances are that WOT ratings for these kind of less known sites would mostly fall in the orange rating. Or probably it's rated by only a single user considering it's popularity. Good to see it's in the green anyway. Installer is clean.

Tabs are also intuitive showing just the site logo, hence takes less space. But still, it could be confusing for the user, if more than one tab of the site is opened, which is the first con, I have seen in this browser

The WOT rating is for the host tripod.com. From the WOT page, "This subdomain inherits the reputation of tripod.com.".
Tripod offers paid hosting, but also free web site hosting, which invites a lot of scam sites. If you take a look at the comments on tripod, they are mostly on the fact that there are scam sites within. |

Tabs handling is really difficult. First they are extremely small plus the close button makes it reallly hectic to switch between tabs

![]() No one seems interested in creating a modern K-meleon browser either. There was K- ninja but it didn't last long. I think that flash slows browsers down quite a bit, however with the use of browser plugins, you can still play alot of flash video. So if someone could introduce mime types and external program embedding (VLC or WMP in windows/Mplayer or Xine in Unix) into say a browser like off by one, it could compete with the big boys easily. Back to Minibrowser, it's true , the minibrowser tabs are incredibly small but I never found them a problem. In firefox, I would install the mini tabs extension and that makes the tabs much smaller then the tabs in minibrowser. Another thing I actually recommend for people is to forget about WOT and instead go for the extension called opencomment. search it in addons.mozilla.org. It allows any person to comment on any site. This will allow for certain websites to actually have real user comments and reviews, which I think is far more useful then WOT. The only problem with opencomments is, again, it's not very known. By the way, Minibrowser uses webkit, in case no one noticed. Last edited by Linuxis; 26. Nov 2011 at 07:06 PM. |
