Default Object tracking/ recognition/ video stabilizing for VirtualDub

here's a software that I've begun to develop in April 2011:

http://videocrack.npage.de

click on 'centertracker' and dowload the latest version 1.5

the program can track an object in your video (for example a plane or a person's face). For this purpose there are three modes available:

a) color tracking (choose a specific color region to track)
b) contour tracking (choose a shape)
c) template matching (choose an object)

when calculation has finished centertracker creates an AVS file which you can open with VirtualDub.

I need some feedback for this software guys as I hardly get any traffic to youtube let alone comments.

Here are a few example vids:

sample for color tracking:

helicopter, also color tracking:

Very interesting.
Looks like it could prove useful to a lot of people if they knew about it.

I may well give this a go in the future when I have some time to play around with it.

thank you for your reply Sope. Yes I hope it could be useful to someone. I'm new to C++ (only started a couple of weeks ago) but I put all my effort into that goal I was following for a long time: being able to put an object that I filmed into the center of the screen and stabilize it. I film a lot of birds, planes, helicopters - objects that are usually shaky on film - so I was checking freeware all the time for such a tool ... to no avail. VirtualDub has a very good filter called Deshaker but it came short for my particular needs. So I decided to program such a tool myself. And here I am, I got more than I ever expected and of course I'd like to share this!

Adobe After Effects has such effects, too as I found out a couple of days ago. But it's not for free. Of great help btw was OpenCV, a very useful software that is used for programming visual effects in C++.

My main hope is that people understand how to work with Centertracker. Imo I made it as easy as I could: just a few things to enter, a couple of clicks and the rest is done by the program. But that's just my view, it may turn out that people need help to understand how it works. I'd be happy to assist

Cheers
Stephan

The software has undergone a major update now:

- you can now track objects also by their brightness
- all tracking modes include a follow option which limits the search area and results in reduced influence of noise and accelerated processing speed
- template mode (follow) is now (almost) change, zoom, rotation invariant (if neither of those events is too big and if the object stays in the frame)
- wing beat compensation for bird flight
- a frame counter (so you know how much processing has already been done)

you can find the latest version on my website:
