Hi Olga, welcome to the forum, and thanks a lot for the suggestion.
I am aware of Solveigmm Avi Trimmer, and it has been around for a long time as a freeware. I was not aware that recently, MKV editing capabilities have been added to it. Its a good addition. Looks good. I notice that the version 2.0 is a beta version. When will the final version be released? Also, the user guide for using the software seems to be dated back to 2007. Will an updated user guide be made available which includes information with respect to recent changes? At the moment, there is no editor for the article of Video Editors... so the product might not be added to the article. So, you will have to wait for it to be tested, and included. As soon as an editor is assigned to the article, we will suggest the software to the person.

Olga, is there even the slightest chance of AVI Trimmer ever being ported to the Linux platform? The options I have found for editing MKV losslessly and without re-encoding on Linux are quite limited, and what is available is not all that intuitive.

Hello Anupam and Ritho,
Please excuse me for the delayed answer. We expect to release AVI Trimmer + MKV 2.0 within two months or earlier. We are glad to report that new version AVI Trimmer + MKV 2.0 will support not only MKV files (which are already supported in version 2.0 a beta) but also will have the new and convenient interface. The preliminary version of the interface will look so: ![]() And we intend to update user guide with all changes too. Ritho, unfortunately we do not plan to release AVI Trimmer + MKV version for Linux. Olga |
