Found this interesting product while I was looking for an application that would allow me to backup my MBR. As I do not have a copy of the windows installation disks (my PC came preloaded with W7) I can not make use of this option to rewrite the MBR.
Here is a link http://www.firesage.com MBRWizard comes as a commercial offering as well as freeware. It supports XP, Vista and Windows 7 (32 and 64). I installed it on W7/32 for a test run. Had to invoke admin priv to get it to work on W7 (have not tried it on W7/64, Vista or XP as yet). Not able to test if the copy of my MBR (now on a CD) gets me to the OS or not as my CD drive decided to quit on me (got a new one on order, but will not arrive for a week or so). |
