LastChance is a desktop utility that provides the facility to run programs when the machine is shutting down.

Once the user chooses Shutdown from the Start menu, LastChance will intercept the shutdown request and optionally

I tried to install it on my Win 7/64 and no, it would not install.

I remember once that I accidentally clicked shutdown..

Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Task Scheduler
Create Task
Triggers Tab
New
Pick "On an event" at the top
Log: "System"
Source: "USER32"
Event ID: "1074"

(This is as free as anything gets since you aren't installing software)

Very interesting, thanks.

Had bad results with a similar Vista compatible program similar to LastChance, so that's enough of these software for me.
