Thought I'd suggest these. I've used both Netbeans and Eclipse for a while now for Java programming, and they both have their advantages. They're also both free... and Eclipse can be run off of a USB drive, no (local) installation required. Worth a look? I've no idea whether this has already been noticed or not, if so apologies.
