Brand new Paragon Backup & Recovery Free Edition is out: http://www.paragon-software.com/home...ess/index.html.
This edition is the most powerful disc-imaging solution among other freebies on the market: it is the only one that can do differential backups; create a bootable USB/flash drive and execute automatic data exclusion option. It also supports all existing backup techniques, performs disc imaging to any backup destination and supports Windows 7. Currently, we are getting the feedback from the market about this tool and your professional feedback is more than appreciated. Please, help us to remove the inertia plaguing of consumers when it comes to backing up and encourage them to act with diligence and confidence! Thanks, John |

I apologize bumping a very old thread, but I have a Paragon Backup and Recovery (Free edition) question...
Does anyone know if this product can backup files on a network drive/folder? I can't seem to get it to find my work files that are stored on my work network?! It only appears to find my C drive. I could not find the answer on their website. Thanks.

In case anyone is interested, Paragon Backup & Recovery 2011 Free edition cannot backup network files. For some reason, it cannot see your networked files.
However, GFI Backup (Free version) does offer this capability. Don't get me wrong, I still really like the Paragon software. However, in this one area, GFI is a better product.

Sorry I missed your question Kendall, it's been one of those 2 months [and counting]. I have no idea who GFI is, but that product sounds very interesting. I have wanted this capability, but none of these free products offer it. Isn't it problematic to image a drive from a mounted network share? This is something I have on my list--looking at what kind of access is available over a network, it's my impression that imaging requires getting closer to the hardware than basic files I/O. Unfortunately, my networking skills need some actual skills.

I have actually used Paragon to image my work computer (laptop). But, when I went to use it to backup my files/folders on my work's network, it can't be done. So, I went in search of a free software that would allow me to backup my files/folders off of my work network. (About 7-8 years ago, I got fired from my job (first time ever) and my network access was cut off. I wasn't able to get my network files before I left. I swore never again...) GFI Backup Free will allow you to backup your network files/folders to a number of places including my 8 GB flash drive. Now, I'm a happy camper!
