You considered Media Player Classic, but not the better Media Player Classic - Homecinema. It plays most (or all) videos without having to install ffdshow and it does not change Vista to Basic Mode while watching a film or movie.

I want someone to delete this thread of mine and my account here. I won't post here again, as my posts about ashampoo got deleted, because it was no "real" freeware in your opinion (even though it is) and because you added here BurnAware Free, which is mentioned on their site as Free only for home / personal use. Therefore it isn't a real freeware either.

In dealing with the links posted here we have to work to certain criteria. Inevitably there will be some overlap but the resources available from our volunteers mean we are not always able to follow these through and so take the safe course by removing them. This includes links to foreign language web pages or where the instructions contained are not easily understood.

Thanks for your suggestion. Suggestions, and advices are always welcome, and we appreciate it. But, please do not try to force the suggestions upon us. If you feel a software is worth considering, please suggest its name... but leave it upon the editor of the category to decide what he thinks of the your suggestion. If its worthy enough, it will be included in the list.
Regarding the softwares, we have to be careful, of what we offer to our users. We have a reputation to keep up to. We would let go of an offer, which is dubious, rather than take it up and repent later. The links you pointed to in case of Ashampoo are not in English, and therefore we cannot confirm whats being offered. If the offer is genuine enough, please point us to an English page. We will try and get it confirmed by one who understands German, and if the offer is valid enough, we will consider it. But, we do not guarantee anything.

I suggested only the name, but because the guy was telling xxxx I posted the links as proof. I mean, you can even use them in business (for burning, not for selling burners with the software). I got that answer from them (Ashampoo, not the website, where I downloaded it) via email. And that is a true freeware for me, like 7-zip and not apps like BurnAware, which you can only use for free for personal / home use.
I would have understand it, if the links or the entire post with the links were deleted and he had answered in a thread that he will take a look over them or so. But removing them without an answer (I didn't even found rules which forbid to post links to software, though I only looked over the FAQs) is just unprofessional. Last edited by Anupam; 30. I apologize if your post was deleted, and we did not inform you.
Regarding the links, I am afraid we can't take that into consideration. Many people here took up Ashampoo free products, but complained of being spammed regularly with their emails to buy their products... and that's why they are against it.. because of their marketing strategy. Further, the links were in German. It would require people knowing German to interpret what is being said on the webpage. You can suggest the software to the editor, and I believe you have already done so on the Best Free Burner article. Please now leave it upon the editor to do what he seems fit. About BurnAware, I would say it very much qualifies as a freeware. It is being offered free for home use/personal use, and I consider it to be good enough. Many features are being offered in the free version too, which would be good enough for personal/home use. One more thing, please do not swear or use objectionable words on our forum. We will not allow it at all... we would like to keep it clean. Thanks.

Hi Brolly,
thanks for the note. I personally like VLC for its cross-platform compatibility (using it on Win and Mac) but I will surely check this MPC release out. Best regards, George

I just looked up Media Player Classic Home Cinema. It is being developed based on MPC, when its author stopped working on it. There have been more features added to MPC, to make it better. Here are the features, as per its website:
http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/ Additional Player Features * Option to remove Tearing. * Better support for Windows Vista, including a release for 64 bits platform. * Support for EVR (Enhanced Video Renderer) * Supports Subtitles. * Playback and recording of television if a supported TV tuner is installed. * Creation of minidump when MPC HC crashes. * OSD (On Screen Display) * Shuttle PN31 remote control support * Support Multi-Monitor configuration * Pixel shader to convert BT601 - BT701 * YV12 Chroma Upsampling pixel shader * Language Translations. * All features from the Guliverkli MPC Project from Gabest. Looks good .
