I have been using "rising antivirus" and "rising antispyware", both are quite good. Besides it's rich array of features, the spyware also both downloads updates and security patches and installs them [automatically]. Despite that I have also tried "eagle". "Eagle" is an IDS which incorporates snort; msqyl and apache, in a preconfigured package. Another IDS is "SAX2" which I am currently using with both rising programs. "Dream mail" is a good email client. "Spamdelete" is also quite good (no it was not downloaded because of the sexy female voice). "TheSage" is a good dictionary. Apart from that I am having a major problem with a unknown windows program causing buffer overflows. Could someone suggest a program, as all the one's that I have come across, only deal with buffer overflows from external attacks, rather than those coming from the OS itself (I am using XP Pro). "System Protect" is also another good program, as well as "AML Free Registry Cleaner".

Thanks for the suggestions. There were some programs in the list I had never heard of. It would be better if you wrote the list in a more organized way
.Comodo Memory Firewall would be what you want. It specifically protects against buffer overflow. Do check it out . Here is the link for download:http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail...l/1201507514/1 I could not find the link on the Comodo site. If I do, I will edit this link. Maybe MC knows the link to CMF on the Comodo site. He was the one to suggest this software.

CMF is no longer available as a standalone product, now being incorporated into the Defense+ component of the CIS suite. I'm sure there will still be versions available on the net if you Google for them or failing that, if anyone is really desperate send me a PM and I'll upload my own copy to a drop. Please be aware that CMF doesn't protect against all possible BO exploits but it does cover the most widely used attack methods.

2] SAX2. Est another IDS. 3] DreamMail. Est an email client. 4] Spamdelete. I have been using it with dreammail to block spam. 5] TheSage. Est an excellent dictionary, thesaurus etc. 6] AML Free Registry Cleaner is also quite good. 7] GhostWall is an excellent firewall (I am currently using it). 8] Rising Antispyware and Antivirus have been used, and are excellent programs. I am currently using the Antispyware. 9] Safari 4 for windows. A good web browser, which I am currently using. Addendum: all of the above are freeware 10] As I said earlier. I am having a major problem with buffer overflows with my XP Pro. It is not contained with either Comodo or any other program. The only one which was able to monitor it was an older version of prevX. The newer version does nothing. Is there anything at all to remedy it? |

The original Comodo Memory Firewall has now been refined and included within the main Defense+ module of CIS (Comodo Internet Security). You will find the settings options under "Image Execution Control".
