I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum for this, but I have been having trouble, getting whole page size pop-ups (I don't know if this size still qualify as pop-ups but I don't know what else to call them). I use Chrome browser, and quite often when I click on certain sites, one or more pages open themselves up on the task bar and if I click on them they are invariably advertising or gambling or webcam sites or porn etc.. I have tried various popup blockers but they never seem to block these types. Is there any software that would do this? Or am I doing something wrong? Or do my Chrome settings need adjusting? Also, sometimes at the bottom of the chrome web page I have noticed a kind of white or grey bar semi-hidden along the bottom of the page and if i click on that a full page opens also.
I would much appreciate it if anyone could help me with this problem? Thanks Wekslap |

Did you try out these default settings?
http://support.google.com/chrome/bin...n&answer=95472 Malware could also be the reason behind popups. But to confirm that, please check out your default popup settings and then post back to this thread. Last edited by Concerned User; 10. Jan 2012 at 04:24 AM. |

I've experienced this too with a Chrome based browser, even with AdblockPlus installed. I also found that Firefox based browsers with AdblockPlus and NoScript kept these things away. Having said that, with my current Linux setup and Chromium, if I disable AdblockPlus all I get is on-page ads, but no separate windows from a site I know generates these for an online casino. I guess therefore something specific is involved here, but unfortunately I'm not aware of what it is

wekslap, please avoid multiple postings. You had posted the same matter as a different thread in another forum two days ago. We do not allow multiple postings.
As for the problem, I have faced this too.. I think the browsers don't block such "pop-ups", because they do not open like them. For example, if you right click a link, and tell it to open in new window, it opens.. same thing must be applied here somehow.. the pages open as new windows, and not as pop-ups, that's why they are not blocked.

I guess it could well be. I'm still not certain exactly what might be causing this particular users issue.

I am certain that there is no malicious software on my machine. I am well aware of the processes that normal run on my machine, so I would notice abnormal behavior or processes.

Like my esteemed friends, I also rely upon a Sandboxie protected Firefox with AdBlock Plus and NoScript for additional protection.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Sorry for the double posting, but I genuinely did'nt know which was the correct one to post to. sorry.
I have Chrome with Dropmyrights, XP Sp3 firewall, Avast antivirus (I Had Avira till recently), Winpatrol free, and Mbam and SAS free versions, WOT, and Adblock plus on default settings. I have used chrome for some time but only recently had this happening. My DNS is openDNS. Thats all I can think of. I have just installed Notscripts chrome OS as an extension. that was the nearest I could find to Noscripts for chrome at default settings, but I have no knowledge of this program up till now. Thank you I hope this is of some help Wekslap Oh, I also checked that Chromes pop up settings were at the default |
