My brother has found out how to download using torrents.... Sadly he is using a program called Vuze or something and is interested in downloading Movies... Luckily he don't no what to do with .ISO files. We have a BT home hub router i have looked into the settings to see if i can block a web site or certain google searches.
I have tried to deter him but i think its falling on deff ears. Except from getting hold of his computer and messing with the settings on Vuze and blocking his firefox searches whats the best option?

You could try blocking the port, via your router, that is being used by Vuze, if your router allows the blocking of certain ports. You would of course have to access his computer though to find out which port is being used by Vuze.
Or, you could block the Vuze program itself in the firewall settings of his PC. Of course, both of these methods can be undone if he knows how to change the port Vuze uses or knows to look at firewall settings if a program is not working properly. That is the extent of my knowledge on this subject and don't know of any other methods myself. |

In order for him to download torrents effectively, he would have had to set an exception in the router for Vuze. This could be done by setting an exception for the port Vuze uses or through UPnP (which automatically opens the port for the Vuze program).
The question is whether you can lock him out of the router. If you have the authority to change the password to access the router's configuration, then you could undo what he has done (disable UPnP in the router or undo his port exception) and he would not be able to reset the exceptions without the new password. This would not completely eliminate his ability to torrent, but it would cut off his activity on many torrents and severely limit his speeds on others. |

You could also block through the firewall. Not sure whether this firefox addon could help you (if you are using firefox). https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...on/public-fox/ I think with some manual tweaking this could be done on all browsers (blocking out file types). Software Restriction Policies would work out. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb457006.aspx The only problem is you would have to have physical access to his computer and hopefully he would not suspect you doing something like restricting torrents. ![]() If all else fails, talk to him and explain what kind of potential dangers he could be facing by downloading movies and stuff.
