I recently switched to roadrunner and they offer free CA Internet Security Plus. I downloaded it on my desktop no problem. Could not get it to load into my son's laptop(tried everything I could think of). So I put MSE on his. I was looking at a comparison of the features between the two and noticed that MSE doesn't offer email protection. Is that an issue? If so what can I use?
I did notice that MSE offers malware protection while CA does not. Woulde I be better off with MSE on my desktop as well or should I stick with CA? I do use the desktop for more items where security is important. Any advice would be appreciated. |

I think the following link should answer your question about email scanning:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/p...b-ebeab5d28ced I am a MSE user and supporter. I've been using it for quite a while and love it. It is a great AV and one I strongly recommend. I do not recommend CA. However, in addition to MSE (or any AV), I also suggest that you practice safe internet practices. This includes using WOT and scanning weekly with Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware. If you are fairly computer saavy, then I strongly suggest you look into Sandboxie.

An AV expert will know more about both products, so I'm just giving you the parts I have a view on.
MSE doesn't require any contact details. Roadrunner requires you to subscribe for the free download. In my experience, Microsoft products are more likely to be compatible with your Windows system than CA products. MSE and CA Roadrunner are both AV products so. if they are any good, they will cover similar threats including malware. Some AV products don't scan email messages before they load into your email program, others do. But generally they will all pick up a threat when it loads - that's all I've ever relied upon. From what you've said Roadrunner scans before the email loads, MSE detects the threat when it tries to run. I don't like toolbars so I'd avoid Roadrunner toolbar.

Depends on your level of experience.
MSE is for all users, including average ones who don't know much about computers. CA is for experienced users, unless you deselect D+ during install. If you do that, it's greater protection won't be a factor. |
