Perseverance is key, and finally made contact direct with FortiNet
![]() FortiClient Standard will indeed be decommissioned, leaving FortiClient Lite as their only free product. It will be a shame to lose the firewall but W7 users do have a few more third party options than they did a while back, including AVS which I'm looking at now. The reason behind FortiClient's leap up the VB RAP charts is because of their investment in combating new malware technologies. The components in their Lite and mainstream products are essentially the same, so this is good news for freeware lovers who only want a simple solution.

So does this mean, FortiClient Lite will essentially be an alternative and comparitive to MSE? A stand alone no bells and whistles simple AV?
Am I also correct in thinking that FortiClient Lite would have the same excellent results that Fortinet represents on VB Rap? Or does the additional features of the paid for version attribute to these results too, meaning Lite would achieve a slightly or heavily lower result? |

Regarding point two, I think they would say users of the enterprise version will enjoy "additional benefits" For the likes of us though I don't think we're likely to notice the difference, especially if already using a HIPS component as part of another product.

Interesting. I will continue to follow the progress of this incase it turns out to be a viable alternative to MSE incase anything ever goes amiss with it.
Will need to be getting good results consistently before considering it as an alternative. |
