I wonder if they will update the portable version. I see that the version is still 4 at Softpedia.

Thanks Anupam. I did try SAS5 when the first beta came out a few months ago
and it worked perfectly. The scan was a lot faster than before with no issues.

I installed SAS 5 today on the PC. Although, I won't say that the new interface is impressive, but it is still better than before, and gives SAS a fresh modern look.

Speed of scanning seems to be better than before too, and SAS now loads faster too. Earlier, there used to be a bit of a delay in opening up.

Overall, the new SAS 5 looks very good.

SuperAntiSpyware used to be really good, maybe on a par with Malwarebytes. It has deteriorated badly though, imho. I wouldn't even use it as an on-demand scanner, there's better free products out there.

Such as?

And why do you say SAS has deteriorated badly. Did you run any tests to reach to that conclusion?

Hi Anupam.

No, I didn't test it myself, I don't use SuperAntiSpyware. But there's plenty of people who do, on You Tube for example, and they're not very enthusiastic about SAS. I have no reason to doubt their conclusions, why should I?

Alternatives? Malwarebytes, ESET Online Scanner, off the top of my head.
I don't bring it as a fact, just my opinion. SuperAntiSpyware used to be much better.

Hi aangekoekt,

You need to keep in mind that no single on-demand scanner will detect and remove 100% of all malware. I think you are underestimating the removal capabilities of SuperAntiSpyware. The video you provided clearly shows that it's able to remove serious infections, such as ransomware. You also need to keep that mind that SuperAntiSpyware was tested against the latest malware threats in this video. This makes it difficult for any on-demand scanner to keep up (due to the speed of new malware variations). This is exactly the reason why I recommend 3 on-demand scanners in my removal guide.

I, for one, will continue to recommend and use SuperAntiSpyware as an on-demand scanner.

Hi geohac.

I appreciate all the effort the software developer has made, I mean it's a free scanner/remover, we're all grateful for that. And of course zero day malware can slip through, no fortress is impregnable. I simply think this product has too many flaws to justify its benefits, I reiterate that imo it's not reliable enough to fully trust it. It used to be, not anymore. Just my two cents.

Hi,

To all that have already installed the latest version: did you do an in-program update or a fresh install? I've downloaded the installer but haven't made up my mind yet as to how to go about it.

Thanks in advance.
