recently i paired threatfire with microsoft security essentials ... everything seems to be well except that when i check the event viewer, it shows 'Microsoft Anti Malware Real-Time Protection feature has encountered an error and failed' ... am just wondering if any1 else has the same issue or just a bug ...
thanks |

MSE and Threatfire both incorporate malware behavior blocking technologies and may not be compatible. I've never tested the two together on the same machine, but it's usually not wise to use two different behavior blockers on the same machine as they may interfere with one another.
It's basically the same reason you should never run two different real-time antivirus programs together on the same machine.

Threatfire and MSE. I would uninstall TF because its old and you can pair MSE with something better. Reboot after uninstalling TF, download a new copy of MSE from the Microsoft website, uninstall MSE and reboot. Afterward install MSE, hopefully your new install will show no errors. If you are using XP, maybe better you find a different Antivirus otherwise MSE should be fine for you. Bo |

Eicar test. MSE will detect the file if its real time protection is actually working. http://eicar.org/85-0-Download.html Bo |

Threatfire isn't old, but it sure is buggy and resource hogging. Unfortunately, it's the only freeware separate behaviour blocker that we know of.
Personally, I've never seen MSE's behaviour blocking in action anywhere online or offline. It seems severely limited right now. |

Go figure!
![]() ![]() (I've never used TF because reviews I've read kind of scared me off in the past. On the other hand, Sandboxie is a true standout imho and has proven itself time and time again over the years. Of course it's a different animal and different approach to security than what you get with TF.)
