Superantispyware has been acquired by Support dot com. This is via Ghacks article :
http://www.ghacks.net/2011/06/19/sup...y-support-com/ where more details can be found, including this link to the announcement at Superantispyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/blog...erantispyware/ Although, the Support com say that free version will be available, but who knows what this might turn into. Lets see, and hope that free version of SAS continues to live on. Support dot com is a site rated orange by WOT incidentally. .. so please do not post links to it.

@Anupam thanks for the heads up and the 2 links. I guess only time will tell which way SAS is going to go, lets just hope they continue with the free version.
However, the fact that support.com has an orange WOT rating doesn't exactly fill me with confidence!

Though I have a Pro license purchased a few years back, I only use the product on demand just like the "free" program.
That said, it seems that SAS has really shown poorly in tests over the past couple of years. (To the point that I actually thought to remove the program from my system. I hesitated to do so as I figured that one more tool in the kit couldn't be a bad thing.) What is your experience? Have you found SAS to still be a viable tool when compared with the free versions of MBAM or Hitman Pro for scanning and detecting malware on your system?

@blues, I currently have the portable free versions of SAS and EEK plus installed versions of: MBAM, Spyware Blaster, Sanboxie, Avira AV, Mamutu and TDS killer.
The last infection I got was from a couple of trojans and it was MBAM that came to my rescue as SAS failed to detect them. That said, I still believe that having various layers of security software is the best approach to winning the battle if not the war!

Excellent reply, especially for one who considers himself (or at least Torres) not so magnificent.
![]() Thanks for sharing your experience.
