Default Banking Security with Trusteer Rapport

Today when I logged onto my baning website I was notified of the product Trusteer Rapport.

It is security software specifically designed to protect you from fake banking websites that mimick the original and steal your details in the process.

Does anyone have any experience with this software and have any thoughts on it?

Does it do its job? Is it worth installing?

I have never and am pretty sure I never will fall for these fake site scams, as I never go to any banking site via a link, I always type in the address manually, but you can never be too sure or too safe when it comes to banking and it looks like a very good piece of software.

It is free and here's their homepage.

I have heard of this. My question is how someone can log into a fake banking webpage if they are using the correct URL? When I regularly visit any website not necessarily a banking site I usually click on it from my bookmarks. I would assume it has to go to that URL otherwise I should get an error. Is it possible for the bad guys to hijack the URL directing you to their fake webpage?

It's possible for them to hack your bank website as well.

Trusteer is okay, but I think Prevx SafeOnline does a better job.
Anti-keyloggers and Firewalls (with HIPS) are also effective.

Amazing!
Its like making a tank and then the bad guys make a weapon to kill that tank and then you make armor that defends your tank from that weapon until they make a weapon that circumvents that defense. Where in the heck does it end? (sorry I digress)

But thanks for the link J_L already have a Anti-Keylogger and it looks like it would be a good idea to get Prevx as well. By the way is their a Linux version?

Unfortunately no. It might work in Wine with a Windows browser. You can use a virtual machine as well.

I think NoScript is a good alternative. Linux systems aren't susceptible to Windows malware anyhow.

I notice that Prevx isn't compatible with the latest browsers yet, however I will give serious thought about using it once it is.

I wasn't aware this type of software existed. Seems very useful and worthwhile having even if you do feel you have safe browsing techniques. Always good to have a backup!

Yes but what if the bank's URL has been hijacked having linux wouldn't matter unless I'm missing something.

if you got your credentials saved on Lastpass for your banking sites, it only works on the real site and not fake ones. Also skips out on keyloggers and man in the middle attacks

That's why I recommended NoScript. How will LastPass protect you from MITM attacks?
