Default BullGuard Internet Security Offer

With apologies once again for the delay caused by a variety of factors outside of either side's control, but here at long last is your “offer of a lifetime”

http://www.techsupportalert.com/cont...ecurity-10.htm

For me, securing a PC is all about employing different layers, but I appreciate others prefer to install a single suite. At one point the only redeeming factor for buying a paid one was access to better support but all too often this fails to deliver as evidenced by the many forum posts on this subject. BullGuard is one vendor who has managed to maintain their service level so if this is an important consideration for you, try for one of the free licenses.

As per the offer page, please note this does not include the back-up feature from the full commercial product.

Please post your thoughts, bugs and opinions in this thread instead of the offer page comments so we can monitor these more effectively and get feedback to BullGuard as necessary.

We did experience a few technical difficulties last time we ran this offer which should not re-occur this time around. If anyone does encounter problems, please post about them here.

One issue we are aware of is a notification that Windows 7 users might see suggesting that both the Windows and BullGuard firewalls are not switched on.

This is a known issue. It's caused by a WMI cache glitch. This workaround
should work until the guys from Microsoft will solve this bug:

1. Go to Control Panel and open Administrative tools.
2. Click on Services.
3. Stop these Services:
Windows Security Center
Windows Management Instrumentation
SBSD Security Center Service (if you use Spybot Search & Destroy).
4. Change their startup type to Automatic.`
5. Remove the directory C:\Windows\System32\wbem\Repository.
6. Start the above mentioned services again by right clicking them and
selecting "Start".
7. Reboot.

MC, can you list the computer requirements here? For example, is there both a 32-bit and 64-bit installer? Is there a Linux version available? Etc...

I'd sort of expected this to happen in two weeks instead of two months but the gremlins of life conspired to hold up both ends of the deal for varying reasons

In addition to the component additions/improvements, this version of BullGuard is also less system intensive than the last. There is a lag when you first open folders full of .exe's but this is typical of many programs. There is also a slight delay when you instruct a download which is deceptive because it does start straight away, but the information is not transmitted immediately to your download window.

I hope you are successful but I would be ready as soon as the offer start time arrives

This is the link to the system requirements page. There's quite a lot of information on there so I think it's better to read it directly rather than me copy bits of it out here.

That page doesn't appear to state whether it supports 64-bit OS's?

In case anyone else is wondering, here is an excerpt from a Live Chat that I just had with Bullguard:

Quote:
[Roxana]: Hello, welcome to BullGuard Live Support! How may I help you?
[Kendall]: Does Bullguard Internet Security suite support a 64-bit OS?
[Kendall]: Your webpage does not indicate 32 or 64 bit
[Roxana]: Yes, BullGuard is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 both 32 bit and 64 bit.
[Kendall]: Thank you. You might want to clarify that on your BIS homepage under specifications. It is not clear.
P.S. The Live Chat is cool! It was super fast to connect with someone online.

I'm glad this was a positive experience for you. As per the paragraph in my opening post, this is one area where BullGuard does excel. I don't want to start debating which AV is better than the next but whatever you've got, finding the right answers to queries quickly is always a bonus.

Hi there,

If you are the one of the 1000 lucky ones you will get an e-mail with a download link and a license key. Furthermore, we will provide you a Downloader that will automatically detect your OS and download the appropriate version. Also, we will give you detailed instructions on how to activate your license key.

For more informations regarding our product, follow this link: http://www.bullguard.com/why/bullgua...-security.aspx

Good luck!

Yes, strange that - it's not in their help section either. A lot of other good stuff is though, including how to download using various browsers.

x64 support is obvious from the forum posts and although it's always a good idea to look into these before installing a new security product, users shouldn't be expected to research their system requirements there too.
