So, out of beta this things becomes as much use as a paper bag in a thunderstorm?

If this is correct then I'm very disappointed.

Back to Avira then!

At least Comodo's still improving!!

I'm curious why they didn't choose to test Spyware Terminator?

This test was an Emsi Software internal comparison and does not represent an objective assessment of the detection performance of a-squared Anti-Malware. It stands to reason that our own in-house product will produce the best detection rate against our own Malware samples. After an in-depth analysis some files were rated as harmless in the meantime. That's why a-squared Anti-Malware did not reach 100%.
Even though that's the case, it made SAS and MBAM (both are good products), which score quite poorly, looked bad because the test included virus and other malwares that SAS and MBAM can't detect?

It seems like Emsisoft published it exclusively to attack MBAM, if this Wilders thread is anything to go by.

That's one long thread. If Emsisoft keeps on doing that on purpose, it might start an anti-spyware war or something.

In my opinion, tests conducted by security vendors are usually to make them look good. Some tests are true while others can be quite misleading (obviously). That's why I don't really trust them. Independent tests on the other hand are more accurate but nevertheless, some might "recommend" certain vendor's security software because they pay more on ads or something like that...

I sort of miss the good old anti-spywares like spybot search and destroy...

I just read this from their faq page:

Will Panda Cloud Antivirus continue being FREE after the beta is over?

YES. Absolutely. 100%. Free

That's true - you can still have the program for free, but not the cloud connection so effectively you will be disconnected from the malware network and reliant solely on whatever local cache has been retained by your system. In terms of what this means - considerably reduced protection! If you don't want to pay for the "collective intelligence" stick with Avira or Avast

Default panda

hello, everyone... i have been using panda a couple of weeks now and i find it quite good. it truly is set it and forget it and does catch baddies. the one thing i find about the program is that one has to download the new builds manually and i couldnt find tis product at panda itself but at a site just for panda cloud. so when downloading just create a link back to the site to save yourself the trouble of hunting around. this program is great for anyone that wants to have a little piece of mind about security without a whole lot of worry. i think it is most likely the future of anti virus and spyware security.... i myself highly recommend and i have tried all the freebies out there...

The "cloud" remotely scans your system
I wouldn't use an alternate DNS either.

If we're willing to give up control, then I'm sure there are
a few entities out there willing to control things for us.
