I decided to download the AVG Linkscanner 2011 free standalone version just to give it a test. I haven't used anything from AVG in over 10 years I guess & I must say, apparently I haven't missed much. I can't even give a review on whether the thing actually performs well or not because I never actually got past the installation. This thing was possibly the most bloated & needlessly over sized product I have ever seen. I sat there with my mouth open for a while & hit cancel.

I had been using AVG LinkScanner for a few months now, alongside Avira free.
It did not slow down the browsing, so that's good, but I was not seeing any use for it. First, am using Sandboxie nowadays, plus, I didn't see LinkScanner doing any work. Maybe I didnt visit any bad site, that's why. Still, I decided to remove it yesterday. The thing just won't uninstall . I tried uninstalling from Add/Remove, and although, it performed the whole process of uninstall, and even required a restart, but after the reboot, it was still there... in system tray, as well as all the files were in Program Files folder.I tried to uninstall it again, and it gave some error. Then, I tried to install it again. I had to do a repair install, which took half an hour!! After that, I tried uninstalling again.. same thing. It didnt go away even after uninstall and restart. Finally, I search over the internet, and found that by using AVG Remover, it will go. Downloaded it, ran it, and phew, the thing is now removed. Won't be installing it again ever.
