Default Immunet losing it

I still have the 1 yr free Immunet Plus license running on one of my systems. The product appears sound and it looks as though it is going to have a good future, however I have decided to can it before the license expires. It appears that they have abandoned their current user base due to their commitments to the sale of the company. Their forum is in a very sorry state.

The Immunet forum has been overtaken by non-Immunet Users. I got a PM from a user with a very suspect handle, who did not have a message for me, but a link to a site that I chose not to click on. The website looked like one of those pimping sites. No doubt these links are full of malware.

This is a very precarious position for an AV provider to be in. There are posts going back several months on this issue but the site is still under siege by these invaders. Their community of protection is probably full of shared email addresses that these spammers now have access to. As of today I am no longer a member of their forum.

I would not be surprised if they end up on WOT as a malware infested site. They need to address this asap or they will be the laughing stock of the AV world.

My Immunet stopped working recently. I have no idea why, it just wouldn't connect any more. As for my one year license, i gave up on that months ago. The license no longer worked after i had to reinstall Windows.

Weirdly, it says this on their homepage "The Immunet Community has over 0 members protected from 0 threats."

They are not alone of course. I've seen similar attacks made on the Bullguard forum and indeed some sites have been forced to close because of it.

They try here too but luckily we now have the resources to filter most of this automatically. Even so, the mod team still has to spend a lot of time which could be better spent elsewhere removing the remnants manually.

I've written to Alfred at Immunet for some direct input.

Alfred from Immunet has responded by saying that several members have been banned recently and they are currently looking at better ways to approach this problem more quickly.

He's asked me to confirm that these issues are isolated to the forum and do not affect the Immunet program in any way.

I had high hopes for Immunet/ClamAV but it seems there are some issues. I ran the free version of ClamAV for windows & liked it although I never saw it actually detect anything. Recently I decided to help them out a bit & buy a 3 PC 1 year licence & it was all downhill from there. It froze my laptop multiple times & it was constantly disconnecting from the cloud on my desktop. Anyway, I was running it "just because" on my laptop with Comodo CIS but it was my only AV on my desktop so the "not connected" issue was NOT gonna work. So off came ClamAV/Immunet and I installed Avast on my desktop. This was the only AV I have ever paid for & I would rather run the free version if I ran it at all. Something is wrong with this scenario. The forum is useless, besides the issues already covered here I have seen questions go unanswered for weeks to months. I hate to say it but this doesn't bode well for this company that so many were so excited about.

Unfortunately I have to agree.

I can only surmise that revenue generation is insufficient to fund development.

If the product truly is worth while, we may see a buy out at some point soon.

SourceFire already bought Immunet.

Yes they did. I guess time will tell but they're gonna have to do better than the Clam database. I don't know, I'm just surprised how fast this has apparently gone sour. Can you even make it as an AV alone these days? With all of the suites out there even the bigger companies have partnered up (Bullguard, GData etc.)
