I didn't notice until I started using the Virus Total extension in Opera 11 that for URL checking they have an association with ParetoLogic. Now these folks have a red rated WOT site and from what I can tell produce poor quality software much of which is either baitware or an out and out scam.
Does anyone here know why Virus Total would want to use these guys?

Could it be the extension developer that is responsible for this, and not Virus Total? I noticed that it's developed by "webrider". According to the description, it only "scans the current site". If it doesn't check links, then it's rendered practically useless anyway. |

I found numerous references to the affect that Virustotal added the ParetoLogic malicious URL database to their url scanning database in August. The reasons why they chose to do so I don't know.
