I've received a notification from Trustware that they will be running a promotion to give away free full licenses for the pro version of BufferZone for one month commencing 1st December.
I really liked this program when I was with Windows so you might want to grab a copy ![]() The email I received makes no mention of any restrictions other than "home users" so please inform me if you find any once the offer goes live. Details will appear on their website. http://www.trustware.com/

Hey, thanks M.C.!
Although i've decided to give up on this kind of programs and keep it simple and light, i will definately grab a copy, maybe i'll change my mind in the future. I, too, liked BufferZone but it was a little heavy on ram and had a few bugs if i remember. Anyway, thanks! |

I'm wondering if someone here or maybe online has a comparison between BufferZone and Sandboxie? While I've never used BufferZone, it appears to be similar in function to Sandboxie. Has anyone here used both?
P.S. FYI--There is an interesting discussion at Wilders comparing these two along with Geswall.

IMO BufferZone is more user friendly and informative than Sandboxie. The only thing I'm not too sure about is if they're giving away the new version with this promotion which I'm informed is "running concurrently with the release of Trustware's BufferZone Pro v. 3.41". Maybe it's just the current version for free but no doubt all will soon be revealed ![]() By the way, you don't need this with Peppermint, Kendall

No worries - I still have my uses for some things so there's always hope
![]() Before someone like Jojo comments about how I've titled the thread I should point out that it's the promotion that lasts for a month and not the license period!

You're talking about this, right? If not, could you provide the link?
Now, if you are an IE user then give BufferZone a try. If you use another browser, you can forget the free version, wait till the giveaway. You can run of course all the other browsers inside the free BZ but you get a 5 second delay EVERY time you open them (not once a day like SBIE). This limitation only is enough to make the free version unusable in my opinion. Also SBIE uses less than 10 megs of ram in my system while BZ uses around 40. The good thing about BZ comparing to SBIE is the looks. Has very slick and easy to navigate UI and it handles downloads with a simple right click like Geswall, without the annoying pop-up to recover the file that SBIE gives you. The thing that bothers me the most about SBIE is the slow start, the browser needs 2-3 seconds to load more than it needs unsandboxed. Unfortunately with the limitation of the free BZ i wasn't able to find out if BZ behaves better on this matter. Anyway, you should grab a copy of pro version, has more features than the free and i'm sure you're gonna like it Nevermind about the link, it's this obviously Last edited by mrpink; 29. Actually, it was neither of those. But, the ones you posted are much newer than the one I was looking at:

bit of Virtualization and Policy restrictions combined. I wont install it but if I wanted to use Sandboxie and for some reason SBIE would not play along with some other program that I have installed then BZ would be a great choice to try. Its not for me but this is a nice offer and some of us should grab it. Bo |
