Default Malwarebytes Public Beta Released

The long awaited public beta is now released.

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index...howtopic=67218

There are a lot of improvements but this is the one many will find interesting.

"New internal detection algorithms enable detection of more real-world malware".

A direct download link to the file is available on the page linked to above.

Just to repeat, this is beta software so expect bugs and don't rely on it

This would apply to the free version? I think this is a feature concerned with real-time monitoring which is not there in the free version. Or, will this be useful while offline scanning?

There is no qualification in brackets after this on their website so my assumption is it applies to both versions.

I can't speak of detection, since I rarely if ever find anything anyway (with any scanner, not just MBAM), but I did notice an improvement in scanning speed. It usually takes between 20 and 25 minutes to do a full scan on my system drive, and this beta took 16 minutes the first time.

Yes, I too had noticed that there was nothing in brackets as to indicate for which the version the feature was being mentioned. Must be for both. But still, I do not get the meaning of the feature. What is meant by real-world malware?

I'm guessing that they're talking about improved heuristics to detect in the wild malware.

I thought this too - eg detection for stuff not yet with a listed signature.
