Default Sunbelt Firewall going Free!

Sunbelt have reconfigured the last commercial version of their firewall into a freeware (beta) product.
A link to the registration page and some more info in this Wilders thread:

Still no W7 or x64 support but then you wouldn't expect it.

Interesting to note that they plan to release the currently integrated version from Vipre as a standalone which will have this extra support.

This might appeal to Feline if still not certain about Sygate

I jumped on this one like a duck on a june bug. Sunbelt has always been my favorite. I even had the paid version for a year. After that ran out I switched to PrivateFirewall. I just never adjusted to privatefirewall it had a problem remembering which applications to trust.

Do you know if this will remain free?

Cheers

Too late, too late...

But I might have a look still. Maybe it has an option like 'click ONLY ONCE and have ALL your applications stripped from 'run as server' and 'allow ICPM traffic' simultaneously'...

However, after the initial pop up fireworks ceased down, the Sygate is peacefully sitting in its corner doing its job. I even think the system starts faster, but maybe that's a placebo effect.

Wise choice. What you know and like will always outperform something someone else says is better

Fort Knox looks like a good free personal firewall...

...but only alongside a good HIPS. Doing well its job as a firewall, what matters the most.
