I agree, Firefox/Plugin container peaking when viewing videos its getting better with the latest releases. The peaks have nothing to do with SBIE as they also happen out of the sandbox.

@Anupam, I don't think we ought to look at this peaks when using Flash as an "issue". I see it as Taurus, "Flash videos are a big drain on the system".

Bo, if you read my previous post, I have mentioned that this problem did not occur to me since a long time. And, I play the flash game daily. Also, when this problem occurs, Firefox takes up humongous amounts of RAM, and the CPU usage too gets to a point, where the computer beings to crawl.

So, this is an issue for me, if not for you.

Anupam, are you using the Taffic Light extension extension in firefox ? I will share with you my experience. I noticed that the firefox memory would spike sometimes as high as 312,000k when viewing videos of any kind, Yahoo, Youtube ext.. I read posts regarding firefox that memory shouldn't go any higher than 150,000k max. So I started deleting my extentions one by one while watching the Task Manager at the same time while viewing videos. And to my surprise when I disabled Traffic Light, the firefox memory would only peak up to 150,000k. So I uninstalled Traffic Light and now when I initially start up firefox, sandboxed it's in the 80,000k range which is acceptable to me and as I said before, peak as high as 150,000k tops when viewing videos. That is firefox unsandboxed or sandboxed. So now my extensions are WOT, Keyscrambler, Addblock plus, Perspectives and Quick Java.
Just thought I would pass this bit of info on to you but you might have a different problem altogether.

Thanks for the help wolfstr ... but no, I am not using the Traffic Light extension.

I was going to reply in this thread. Today, I have been running Firefox without Sandboxie. But, I am still experiencing the issue. So, Sandboxie has nothing to do with it.

Today too, Firefox continues to take up high memory and CPU. It takes up huge amount of memory, going to 600,000 K, and CPU usage keeps fluctuating, going from lowest to 31 and more. Also, when I close Firefox, I observed from Task Manager that, Firefox does not close immediately, but continues to stay in RAM, and very slowly releases memory, and then closes after a while.

Other thing I just noticed is that when I closed Firefox, and restarted it, and even when there is no plugin-container.exe, Firefox still continues to behave in same way. Although this time, its taking lesser memory, around 300,000 K. And CPU usage too, is fluctuating, from lowest to 30 and more.

At this time, I am clueless as to what is causing this. Maybe it happened before too, and I did not notice... but going by the amount of lag that it produces on the computer, I would have noticed it earlier. Its only since a few days that I am experiencing this. Don't know what extension might be causing this. I don't see any extension which looks like it might be causing this issue.

In FF>Help>restart with add-ons disabled.

If that sorts out your problem then you'll need to go through the tedious process of eliminating which add-on is causing the issue by disabling them one-by-one!

Good luck!!

Thats an old unresolved Firefox problem that most users have experienced so don't feel alone, the good thing is that there are solutions that works.

I ll give you a solution that worked for me, every time. Whenever you close your browser, instead of closing it by clicking the "X", exit the browser by going to File>Exit.

By the way, this has never happened when running sandboxed as SBIE closes the browser for us. Even now, the rare times that I open FF out of the sandbox, I close the browser as I explained and the issue don't occur.

It works. I have not experienced this issue, the past 3 years.
