I am confused. Isn't MSE available for free, for all? Or it was available for free for home users only? I do not see any condition being mentioned on the MSE site. Although, on the page, there is sort of an ad, that for businesses, Forefront was available, but still, there is no condition as such on the page, that who can use MSE for free. If there is any condition, it should be explicitly mentioned I think.

I'm with you Anupam. I had no idea that MSE was not free for everyone including businesses. But it is commendable that a mega corporation is willing to help out small businesses in this way. Another point for Microsoft. They have been getting quite a few lately, but I am still not giving up Ubuntu!

I think they're giving the go ahead, legally, for small businesses to do what I suspect many may already be doing. It's more to do with the wording of the EULA, I think.
This is what it currently states; "If you comply with these license terms, you have the rights below for each license you acquire. 1. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS. * Use. You may install and use any number of copies of the software on your devices in your household for use by people who reside there or for use in your home-based small business." At present you agree only to use it for home / home based small business use. |
